2:30 pm Activity – ‘Making a Phase Box’
Originally designed by conservators to house a damaged book, until it could be repaired, phase boxes these days are used in a much wider context. The custom-made box provides a micro-climate for a rare book, protecting it from the damaging effects of light, dust, and air pollutants.
Participants to bring:
A4 size cutting mat, 30 cm steel ruler, bone folder, cutting knife, sewing needle (with a not-too-small eye), scissors, sharp pencil, small weight, e.g. an old scale weight. All other materials will be supplied.
RSVP by Wednesday June 1
If you wish to participate in this activity, you MUST email Helen (firstname.lastname@example.org)
or send text to 0455 202 156 so that materials can be prepared.
